Cosmic Equanimity

For every Yes in the Universe

there is a No.

Every time a flower blooms,

a light goes out, as if a lightning bug

ran out of battery.

This universal balance proves why there is

as much dark matter as trillions of

powerfully lit galaxies.

What does this mean for us lonely humans

mired in the 21^st century?

Whatever we do or don’t do on Planet Earth

will be compensated for.

None of our attachments,

as gloriously as they feel,

will affect cosmic equanimity.
